Color Pastels 2011
Artist: Gloria Rigoni
Gallery Description:
I draw what I cannot see but that which I feel and explore visually in what the music sounds dictates and demands of me. The music sounds are heard, then visually digested, felt, and transformed into colors, shapes, lines, and movements, some structural and geometric and some less so but open, biomorphic, fluid, and changing. Thus music and visual art are strongly linked intrinsically, both having structure sometimes, and often open and moving forward into new dimensions in time and space. A universal appeal is evident in both art forms.
I use color pastels as my media and some compositions are on colored background papers which tend to impart and enhance a feeling of mood and time, ex: night and day, or the seasons, spring, summer, autumn, and winter as in the Vivaldi series. The sometimes grainy effects of the colored papers seen through the color pastels help to reinforce the pieces visual image.
